Pipefish

The pipefish family, also called Syngnathidae, belongs to the order of stickleback-like. Pipefish are coastal dwellers and are found in all oceans. Pipefish have an elongate body which is surrounded by ring-shaped bone plates that form a body armor. The majority of Syngnathidae are monogamous and especially the tropical species are very colorful. It is recommended to have them in pairs and the biological population should be already 6-9 months. The family of lakes Alden also include the seahorse (hippocampus).
